Yoga as Mind-Body-Medicine for Diabetes
After a brief look at the studies, we will show how an adapted and regular yoga practice can help to reduce the risk factors and consequences of diabetes. In the workshop, we will introduce diabetologists and diabetes counsellors to how yoga can address the physical, mental and emotional levels.
The bottom-up and top-down approaches of mind-body medicine are suitable as a model. This allows us to categorise the variety of yoga exercises. Regular and enjoyable exercise practice can improve strength, balance and flexibility, lower clinical parameters such as blood pressure and blood sugar, but also relax and reduce stress.
In two short workshops, Birgit and I will look at the different aspects in theory and practice.
